Lean Manufacturing has been in
practice for many years now and companies from all over the world have
gained numerous benefits from their own applications of Lean.
Because of these wide-spread applications, many different approaches to
implementing Lean have also emerged. The majority of these
approaches can be grouped into three main categories:
workshops, broad tool application, and full Lean transformation. |
|
 |
| Full
Lean transformation is a systematic approach that covers all
dimensions and will achieve the greatest long-term sustainable results
but may also require more up-front resources, time, and commitment. |
| Broad
tool applications generally focus on physical system changes
and can achieve high medium-term benefits. Unfortunately,
without support system changes and the Lean vision to set direction,
the results will typically not be sustainable long-term. |
| The workshop
approach can yield some immediate spot improvements but has been proven
through many applications to very often yield no long-term sustainable
results. |

We believe that the greatest sustainable benefits can only be achieved
by designing and implementing a complete Lean System which incorporates
all of the dimensions of Lean.
We do also realize, however,
that in many cases the need for "stop the bleeding" solutions may
outweigh the desire for systematic change. That's why our
approach combines the first-aid benefits of workshops with the
long-term care application of Lean Transformation.
By conducting the appropriate
improvement workshops based on initial diagnostic information, we can
capture the low-hanging fruit, establish base stability, and build the
skill level and will-to-change of the client personnel.
The real value, however, comes
from the joint development of the Lean "Vision" which includes the
design of the Lean System and the implementation plan, both uniquely
tailored to the client involved. |
